January Wrap-up post!

What did I do in January?

  • I started school! I’m in my second semester of my junior year of undergrad; my major is Children’s and Young Adult Literature with a concentration in Publishing and Editing. I have a double minor in Computer Science and Creative Writing.
  • I learned how to wear a KN95 mask!
  • I started my 2022 bullet journal!
  • I started a new habit of cooking every week!
  • I wrote about two thousand words on my Novella Project, which is not that many but is more than I had before.

What happened on the blog in January?

  • I accidentally deleted most of the images on the blog! I haven’t decided yet if I will fix this or if I will just try to pretend it never happened. The images that disappeared were mostly book covers for my old reviews, so technically if nobody ever reads those reviews again it doesn’t matter.
  • I started a new “series” on the blog, “Thoughts on”, which are really just repurposed things I wrote for school. Read my Thoughts on Beth March here.
  • I reviewed two books of the I Can Draw series by drawing everything in the book! Find that review here
  • My friend Jamie Rivera did a guest post on my blog about his best books of 2021 wrap-up! Jamie’s style of writing is incredible and very funny, so I really recommend this even though all the book cover images are missing (sob). Read it here!
  • A mini-review round-up of “The Temperature of Me and You”, “Manywhere”, “Wash Day Diaries”, “Love and Other Disasters”, and “Icebreaker”. I consider a “mini-review” to be anything that is about a paragraph long, but honestly I am so busy in general that I might just move over to this kind of style of review more often – bullet points and a short paragraph of thoughts. I never summarize the book in my review, just because in general I think if you want to read that book you can find a summary online, so my reviews tend to be a little shorter than a “normal” review anyway. Anyhow, find this review round-up here!
  • A full review of “Queer Body Power”! Find this one here.
  • A full review of the audiobook edition of “Real Easy”, find it here]!
  • A full review of “At the End of Everything”, which you can find here!
  • My first ever set of mini-reviews, of “The Whale Tattoo”, “Birthright: Recall”, “The Yellow Suitcase”, and “Between Bloode and Stone”. Find it here.
  • A full book review on Serendipity: Ten Romantic Tropes Transformed, audiobook edition. Find it here.
  • A full review of “The Ghost’s Host”, which you can find here. This is where you can really see that I only start writing mini-reviews when I am overwhelmed and it has very little to do with how much I liked the book. “Love and Other Disasters”, which I LOVED, got a mini-review, whereas this book, which I HATED, got a full review. I guess that’s just the nature of the beast!
