Book Review: Badass Affirmations: Wit and Wisdom
Read this as a COYER effort, got it in a Humble Bundle in 2020. Could not say I enjoyed this or that it had good affirmations. One star.

This is a great book! I hated being a kid and my mom would tell me to clean my room but would never really explain HOW. This book really gets kids thinking about HOW to clean their room, especially perpetually messy kids who can’t seem to get ahold of themselves. There are quite a few […]

This is a short and sweet collection of mini-biographies of various gendery icons throughout history. They’ve included Lili Elbe for the intersex icon, and I think that’s neat! I enjoyed this book, but it was very short. Three and a half stars, rounded up for NetGalley/Goodreads. Booksweet link.
This book really encourages you gently into becoming a Plant Person, even if you previously did not have any interest. There’s a ton of helpful activities (full list available on my blog), and it combines Real Sciencey Science with personal experiences and anecdotes. This book is really cozy, honestly, and I think I really recommend […]
This book is really sad and tough and bittersweet. I read this on audiobook, so regrettably I did not see any of the illustrations. I feel neutral about this book; it wasn’t really for me. The narrator is very good though. Three stars. Booksweet link. Storygraph link.
I really like the pictures and photography in this book, and I like the themeing and some of the essays included with the recipes. Unfortunately, there is way too much cross-referencing other recipes with each other in this book – every time you’re like “oh, there’s only six ingredients in this recipe” they’re like “oh […]
This is a delightful, illustrated coffee table book. You’ll know Rachel Ignotofsky’s books and work from the WOMEN IN SCIENCE series, including books and posters and even a puzzle! This could be a picture book for children, but it could also be a book that you pick up and page through in a moment of […]
This is a great and fun nonfiction book with a bunch of interesting and funny illustrations! There’s accessible and even silly prose, and it never gets too positive to be patronizing. Also, I learned a lot about many different kinds of animals. It’s a refreshing read when a lot of nonfiction queer books right now […]
This book is incredible. The beginning of the book notes for “bottled, canned, and frozen food swaps” and makes recommendations. There’s a section for “Cooking with limited energy or mobility” as well as an entire chapter for this: More food, less work. And I think that she follows up on this throughout the course of […]
